Terms and Conditions of Service -
The Paw Shed Ltd.
This document delineates the comprehensive terms and conditions governing the provision of grooming services by The Paw Shed Ltd. Acceptance of services signifies unequivocal agreement to these stipulations.
1.0 Operational Considerations
1.1 Service Quotations:
All quotations provided by The Paw Shed Ltd. are preliminary estimates based upon the information furnished at the time of reservation. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, final pricing is contingent upon the actual time required for service completion. Adjustments may be necessitated by factors including, but not limited to, the animal's temperament, coat condition, size, or any other circumstance not disclosed or reasonably anticipated at the point of booking. Clients are required to provide complete and accurate information during the scheduling process to enable precise time allocation and quotation.
1.2 Appointment Modification and Cancellation Policy:
A minimum notice period of forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled appointment commencement is mandated for all requests to reschedule or cancel services. This policy is instituted to permit the reallocation of the reserved appointment slot to other prospective clients with appropriate advance notification. Any cancellation or rescheduling request submitted with less than forty-eight (48) hours' notice, or a failure to attend a scheduled appointment (hereinafter referred to as a "no-show"), shall incur a fee equivalent to one hundred percent (100%) of the total scheduled service charge. The Paw Shed Ltd. reserves the exclusive discretion to grant exceptions in instances of demonstrable extenuating circumstances. All outstanding fees must be settled in full prior to the scheduling of any subsequent appointments.
1.3 Health and Behavioural Disclosures:
Full and accurate disclosure of any medical conditions and/or behavioural issues pertaining to the animal is a prerequisite for service. The Paw Shed team will, upon check-in, inquire about matters including, but not limited to, handling requirements (e.g., joint weakness, arthritis), veterinary history, current or recent medications, diagnosed or suspected health issues, dermatological conditions, and behavioural concerns. By engaging our services, you acknowledge and agree that The Paw Shed Ltd. shall not be held liable for any incidents, complications, or adverse outcomes arising from undisclosed, undiagnosed, or previously unidentified medical or behavioural conditions that may subsequently be observed or brought to your attention by The Paw Shed team.
1.4 Parasite Management:
All animals are inspected for external parasites upon arrival. Should fleas be detected at check-in, the appointment will be cancelled and must be rescheduled following appropriate treatment. If fleas are discovered during the grooming process, the owner will be notified immediately. A mandatory flea bath, utilising a gentle, pet-safe shampoo, will be administered. An additional charge of £5.00 will be applied to the grooming fee. The appointment will be concluded, and prompt collection of the animal will be required. Following any infestation, the salon and all equipment necessitate thorough disinfection, which may result in appointment delays or rescheduling for other clients. Owners are responsible for maintaining regular, veterinarian-approved parasite prevention protocols to mitigate additional charges and animal distress. If you suspect your pet has fleas, please inform us prior to your appointment to allow for rescheduling and necessary preparations. Ticks or other dermal parasites discovered whilst the animal is under our care will be treated.Cancellation Due to Parasites:
If an animal is found to have fleas or other parasites at check-in requiring cancellation of the appointment, the following applies:
If you disclosed the suspected or confirmed parasite infestation at the time of booking: The appointment will be cancelled at no charge, and you will be offered a free rescheduled appointment at your earliest convenience.
If you failed to disclose the parasite infestation despite pre-appointment enquiries and questions: A no-show fee per section 1.2 (one hundred percent (100%) of the total scheduled service charge) will apply, as The Paw Shed Ltd. has reserved appointment time and resources on the basis of your non-disclosure.
1.4A Canine Papillomavirus (Viral Warts):
Canine papillomavirus causes viral warts (papillomas), which typically appear as small, cauliflower-like growths, most commonly found in or around the mouth, but also on the skin, paws, or other body areas. Whilst the virus poses no risk to humans or other animal species, it is highly contagious to other dogs and is transmitted through direct dog-to-dog contact or via shared items such as toys, bowls, bedding, or grooming equipment.
If an animal presents with visible viral papillomas at the time of booking or check-in, The Paw Shed Ltd. reserves the right to defer the grooming appointment. This is a precautionary measure to protect other dogs in our care from potential transmission. Owners are obligated to disclose any known or suspected viral papillomas when booking an appointment.
Should your dog have active papillomas, it should be kept isolated from other dogs and grooming facilities until all lesions have completely resolved (typically 2–3 months in healthy dogs). Once your dog has recovered, they will develop immunity to the virus and are unlikely to contract it again.
Deferment Due to Papillomavirus:
If an animal is found to have visible viral papillomas at check-in requiring deferment of the appointment, the following applies:
If you disclosed the known or suspected papillomavirus infection at the time of booking: The appointment will be deferred at no charge, and you will be offered a free rescheduled appointment once your dog has fully recovered and all lesions have resolved.
If you failed to disclose the papillomavirus infection despite pre-appointment enquiries and questions: A no-show fee per section 1.2 (one hundred percent (100%) of the total scheduled service charge) will apply, as The Paw Shed Ltd. has reserved appointment time and resources on the basis of your non-disclosure.
1.5 Coat Condition and Grooming Challenges:
In instances where an animal's coat requires clipping to the skin due to severe matting or neglect, you acknowledge that this procedure carries inherent risks. The Paw Shed Ltd. and its employees shall not be held responsible for any after-effects resulting from such necessary grooming. Should additional grooming be required to ensure the animal's comfort, options and associated costs will be discussed during the consultation. For exceptionally matted coats, the service fee will be augmented by an additional £5.00 - £15.00, commensurate with the severity of the matting. This surcharge accounts for increased wear and tear on grooming tools and the added complexity of grooming matted fur. On occasion, if a groom extends significantly beyond the anticipated duration, potentially compromising the commencement of subsequent scheduled appointments, it may be determined that the service must be completed in an additional session. We will facilitate this at the earliest practicable opportunity. In such circumstances, the animal may be released with the groom 'unfinished' and rebooked for completion at a later date (which will incur a further charge).
1.6 Animal Welfare and Safety:
If an animal exhibits distress to a degree that compromises its welfare and safety, The Paw Shed Ltd. reserves the right to terminate services. The owner will be contacted for early collection, and efforts will be made to complete the remainder of the groom in a subsequent appointment, if deemed appropriate. Please refer to section 1.7 in this regard.
1.7 Punctuality:
In the event of a late arrival for an appointment, services will be rendered to the maximum extent possible within the remaining allocated time. A complete finish may not be achievable if time is constrained, though every endeavour will be made to provide the best possible service.
1.8 Animal Collection:
Prompt collection of your animal at the agreed-upon time is essential. Failure to collect your animal within a ten (10) minute grace period following the scheduled finish time will result in a supplementary charge of £10.00 per subsequent 15-minute interval for 'pet sitting' services, as dedicated staff time will be required, potentially impacting other scheduled appointments.
1.9 Marketing Materials:
Photographic or video documentation acquired during appointments may be utilised for marketing purposes, unless the owner expressly requests otherwise in writing.
1.10 Parking:
The designated parking space allocated to The Paw Shed Ltd., situated in front of The Hideaway, is available for a maximum duration of ten (10) minutes. Vehicles and personal belongings are left entirely at the owner's risk.
2.0 Remuneration and Payment Terms
2.1 Payment Due:
The outstanding balance for services rendered must be paid in full upon collection of your animal(s). Accepted payment methods include cash and major credit/debit cards.
2.2 No-Show Fee Payment Method and Card Storage Consent:
In accordance with section 1.2 (Appointment Modification and Cancellation Policy), no-show fees are payable when you fail to attend or cancel with insufficient notice. To facilitate collection of these fees, we require you to provide a valid payment card at the time of booking.
By booking an appointment with The Paw Shed Ltd., you explicitly consent to the following:
We will store your payment card details securely via our third-party payment processor (MoEGO) solely for the purpose of charging no-show fees as outlined in section 1.2.
Your card will be charged automatically if you incur a no-show fee. You will receive notice of this charge.
Your card will not be charged for any other purpose (including regular service payments or additional services) without your separate, explicit authorisation.
Your card details are stored in compliance with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) requirements. They are encrypted and handled by secure, authorised payment providers.
You may request deletion of your stored card details at any time by contacting us in writing. Deletion will take effect within 14 days, though existing no-show fees remain payable.
If you do not wish to store a payment card, you may discuss alternative arrangements (such as an upfront deposit) with The Paw Shed Ltd. at the time of booking.
2.3 Data Protection:
In storing and processing your payment card details, The Paw Shed Ltd. acts as a data controller under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Your data will be processed only for the purposes outlined in section 2.2. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR rights. For further information about how we handle your data, please contact us directly.
3.0 Animal Welfare, Safety, and Handling Protocols
3.1 Health Requirements:
As mandated by UK law, all animals must be fully vaccinated, wormed, and treated for fleas prior to their appointment.
3.2 Safety Measures:
All reasonable precautions will be undertaken to ensure the safety of your animal(s). This may, if deemed absolutely necessary for safety, involve the temporary use of a muzzle to mitigate the risk of an unintended bite or injury to the animal's tongue during tool use.
3.3 Veterinary Care:
Should an animal be determined to be in serious ill-health (e.g., due to heatstroke, viral infection, or other ailments), it will be transported to Priory Vets for immediate treatment. All associated veterinary expenses shall be the sole responsibility of the owner, who will be contacted as soon as practicable.
3.4 Un-neutered Females:
The Paw Shed Ltd. reserves the right to cancel an appointment if it is discovered that a female dog is in season at the time of check-in. We kindly request that appointments be scheduled during periods when the animal is not in season, due to heightened physical sensitivity and increased risk of infection during this time, as well as potential disruption to male animal clients.
3.5 Allergy Disclosure:
Any known allergies to food, environmental factors, products, or other substances must be disclosed at the time of booking and again upon dropping off your animal(s).
3.6 Illness and Injury Disclosure:
Any known illnesses, injuries, sensitive areas, or specific medical needs must be disclosed at the time of booking and reiterated upon bringing your animal(s) for their appointment(s).
3.7 Health Assessments:
While we provide health checks and offer advice as necessary, please note that The Paw Shed Ltd. personnel are not veterinarians or animal behaviourists. We will endeavour to assist and advise on any perceived negative health, welfare, or behavioural indicators.
3.8 Restraint Equipment:
Restraint equipment, including crates and muzzles, may be employed in instances of aggression or to ensure safety. Staff will inform you upon collection if such equipment was utilised and will advise on future appointment protocols if necessary. Muzzles provided will be of a type that permits panting. Please refer to section 4.4 for further details. By booking an appointment, you consent to the use of appropriate handling and safety equipment, including crates, should the groomer be unable to remain with the animal unattended.
3.9 Record Keeping:
Detailed records of all animal appointments, including behaviour and health observations whilst in our care, are maintained via our internal application. Access to these records can be requested via email, and will be provided within fourteen (14) days of receipt of your request.
4.0 Limitation of Liability
4.1 Service Risks:
While every reasonable measure is implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of each animal under our care, unforeseen incidents may occur. Procedures such as de-matting, nail trimming, and grooming of puppies or highly excitable or aggressive animals inherently carry an elevated level of risk. Heightened care and precaution are exercised during these services. Should an accidental injury occur, any contribution towards veterinary costs will be determined at the sole discretion of The Paw Shed Ltd. and is not guaranteed.
4.2 Staff Injury Compensation:
Should a member of The Paw Shed Ltd. team sustain a severe injury from your animal(s) resulting in work-related absence, as confirmed in writing by a qualified physician, the owner shall be liable for loss of earnings at a rate of £250.00 per day. Pet insurance may provide coverage for such scenarios.
4.3 Aggression Disclosure:
You are obligated to inform us of your animal(s)' aggressive behaviours towards other animals or people at the time of booking and upon drop-off. Any prior grooming-related incidents must also be disclosed. This information is critical for safeguarding all animals and individuals on-site and for ensuring the provision of a suitable appointment environment.
4.4 Muzzled Animals:
If your animal exhibits aggression or has a history of aggressive incidents, it must arrive already muzzled. Basket muzzles are preferred for animal comfort, allowing them to pant. The Paw Shed Ltd. cannot guarantee a perfectly executed haircut on the head area if a muzzle must remain in place for the entirety of the grooming process.
4.5 Allergic Reactions:
In the event of an unexpected allergic reaction to products used or treats provided during the appointment, The Paw Shed Ltd. shall not be held liable for subsequent veterinary consultations or prescribed treatments.
